Brand New PhoneWatch by Kempler & Strauss
« on: March 27, 2010, 11:10:29 PM »
At the latest CTIA wireless conference, a new gadget, but not new idea, was creating a small buzz.  It was the Kempler & Strauss. W PhoneWatch, that kept folks coming to the Kempler & Strauss. booth this year.  With more products, vendors and attendees this year than last, the booth was busy and some smaller companies were trying to get their shot at fame with new gadgets.

The San Diego based company was selling their PhoneWatch, unlocked, for only $199 and that included a SIM card that could be activated by AT&T, T-Mobile or any other GMS provider.

Some features included were the touch screen, MP3 player, bluetooth campatibilities, still camera, productivity apps and the ability to record video.  Although the phone does not have the ability to connect to the internet, there were demonstrations on how to send text messages.  With over 4,000 sold from it’s website since Feb. this year, Kempler & Strauss say the numbers look encouraging.

The company also has a phone to put on the market that runs Windows 7, but the prototype was not ready for this show.  The only details available were that it had a touch screen with a full physical keyboard.

I think that a phonewatch would be a cool gadget to have but the phones these days having so many features, I just don’t see how any user could get use from it for the long term.
