Apple iPad was criticized as users were not able to make phone calls from iPad despite having a 3G version and running on iPhone OS 3.2. However, there are some apps that let you make phone calls using iPad, and are totally free to download on iPad. One obvious name is, of course, skype for iPad. Skype 1.3.1 has been updated to work well with iPad and limit any compatibility and stability issues it earlier had with iPhone OS 3.2. Another great app is Truphone, it’s also free to download and lets you make calls and chat with your friends using Truphone for iPad. So, if you are looking for a way to make phone calls with iPad, you could go with either of apps. Although, both of these are free to download, you should note the expenses associated with calling using these services.
These apps are great but are not actual replacement of traditional calls using 3G and GSM networks. Perhaps an iPad jailbreak will enable us to make network supported phone calls with iPad, hopefully! Till then, download
