Designed to render useless over 70 activation exploits for the OS

The first “major” upgrade for the latest iteration of the Windows client will be designed not only to catalyze the evolution of the operating system, but also to thwart a multitude of illegal workaround for the platform’s activation mechanism. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 will include a cracks killer refresh that Microsoft released earlier this year through Windows Update to all customers running the RTM Build 7600 of the OS. In fact, the Beta development milestone of Windows 7 SP1 already contains the Windows Activation Technologies Update for Windows 7.

When it first unveiled plans to offer the Windows Activation Technologies Update for Windows 7, the software giant revealed that the refresh would kill more than 70 exploits that have been deployed since RTM to illegally circumvent the activation process for the OS. Microsoft never offered details about what Windows 7 RTM cracks specifically was the Windows Activation Technologies Update designed to tackle, but their number indicates that the company was attempting to handle the vast majority of exploits set up to bypass Windows 7                                                              activation.

Windows Activation Technologies Update for Windows 7 (KB971033) had been available not only through Windows Update, but also via Microsoft’s Windows Genuine website, and through the Microsoft Download Center. As of the Beta Build, KB971033 is also included into Windows 7 SP1, and there’s no doubt that the RTM versions of the service pack will also include the cracks killer.

Hate to say "I told ya so" 

It's best to start backing things up now everyone, the only way to really remove the Not Genuine flags is to do a clean install with a Genuine licence.  Nearly all exploits are removed with KB971033/SP1

Is this release newer (by date)  than the one with SP1 Beta v.178 .... ?  /Reason i ask I check at least weekly with a Genuine Validation download...
so far all is GOOD. but then you know which patch I'm using....  testing on Ultimate and HomePremium and Professional.

For the most part new builds are compiled daily (think Firefox nightlies but on a massive scale), so that .178 build is certainly out of date.  With that hack, any kind of Genuine Validation software is going to either pass or crash.

Not sure if using a Certificate (License) that is Genuine and a Genuine KEY to match would be called a HACK. but that is what i use ... I like to call it a PATCH.
 Installation Method is provided by M$. using slmgr.vbs
If every thing you use is OEM
1.) install license
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ilc
2.) Insert Key
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ipk
3.) check activation period
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -xpr

What I do to check if there are several KB's that when you ask.... M$ sends you to Genuine Validation if you pass the  Download is approved. 
I have TESTED using both KB971033 and KB980408.  This is why I was asking of the KB971033 in v.178 was newer than the DL version from M$.

Ah the wording made it sound like you used RemoveWAT and were asking about the age of the service pack.  My appologies.

Well, once updates are issued by Microsoft they aren't updated, anything else is issued in another KB update, so they would not have changed it.  There have been no claims made about yet another anti-piracy update so you should be safe, unless they decide to change SP1 a bit (it's possible, however a bit unlikely).

Ahhhhhhhhhh  no,  I simply hate the HACK to removes WAT or attempted to defeat .  it also made it impossible to verify so many other things. and Well,. when instructions were given to use CMDs to test different things or Verify... It made me Boil, and so many Noobies used WAT or RWAT or other HACKS that disabled Cmds...
