I have been trying hard to understand what you are getting at with this post.
I fail to see what you are on about

But then I suppose it's coz I work in a very different manner to you.
I come from the school that had the benefit of
File Manager.
With File Manager I could open two panes side by side.
With, for example C:\drive in the left pane and D:\Data on the right.
After I closed down, my layout was back in place when I re-booted.
I liked that facility alot.
With Explorer I lost it.
In XP I found ways of having two Explorer panes side by side, but I had to set it up every session.
My way of working is to use Explorer as a launch pad, a working platform.
I fire up programs from Program Files folder, or open docs by clicking the word file in my My Documents folder.
It's what I do. Hey we are all different

Now in Seven I have two instances of Explorer stacked on the Task Bar.
With a right click, I get this new fangled menu thingy - I think is called Jump Menu.
Actually it's not too bad. It does take some getting used to though.
But I can Pin my most used folders at the top of the menu.
And. Well, and go straight to my chosen folder. Sweet as

I suppose you lot are using that wretched Start Menu. Yuk.
Where's my Classic Menu please. I know. I know. Let's not go there now, ha ha
