How to run a program in compatibility mode with Windows 7
« on: February 28, 2009, 07:45:53 PM »
In Windows 7 one may run into an issue where a program says that it does not support this OS.  In the event of this error message try running the program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista or Windows XP SP2 to do this follow these simple steps.

1. Right click the file you wish to run, you can right click the actual file or the start menu shortcut as well.
2. Select Properties from the right click drop down menu
3. In the properties dialog box navigate to the Compatibility Tab
4. Under the compatibility tab it will give you options to run this program in compatibility mode
5. Check the box under Compatibility Mode, then from the drop down box select the level of compatibility you wish to use (e.g. Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2, etc.)
6. Click the OK button at the bottom of the dialog box.
7. Now run the application and it will run as though it is running in the specified Operating System.

PS. This does not always guarantee that the program will run correctly and 100%, with everything there are exceptions but in general this will help and is worth the effort.
