Downloaded 2/29/2012 only problem seems to be Keyboard subroutine error. number row not functioning properly. Numbers only seem to work correctly from the Keyboard and alternate characters are nonexistent.

I have yet to warm up to Windows 8, From XP to Vista to Windows 7 was easy, I just find myself taking longer to accomplish anything with Windows 8. I used the Dev Edition Daily and now this Consumer Build. Still can not get into it

I have installed the Consumer Preview on my custom built computer now but the only thing is that when I shut down my PC there are 2 orange lights still on. I don't think Windows 8 fully shuts down my computer. How do I fix this issue?

Installed Windows Consumer Review at last. It took me 22 hours to download the file. My ISP seems to be throttling Microsoft.

Upgraded from Windows Developer Review. Installation was smooth.

Downloaded the updates. Five updates. It needed restart. I did not see any option to restart later.

The start is lightning fast like the Windows Developer Review.

There has been an improvement in the start options. Windows Developer Review did not show my Ubuntu installation. But Windows Consumer Review is showing all the three installations I have. Windows 7, Windows Consumer Review and Ubuntu. This should be reassuring to the Linux addicts.

Tried the Microsoft Store. Some free software was available. I will download one tomorrow.

I can do a clean install with no issues. I have not been able to to do an upgrade though. The install gets to 30% and then "something happened windows Consumer Preview did not install" message. I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a Dell T3400, 8gigs of ram. I have tried a USB disc, USB hard drive, dvd and the upload manager and all do the same thing.

Any ideas??

You may be able to upgrade when 8 goes gold, but for now, the clean install is prob your best option...dual boot for now...

I haven't dual-booted my Windows 7 with Windows 8 and so far it's going fine. Nvidia have released drivers for Windows 8 and I have finally figured out why I had 2 orange lights on my case. Windwos 8 has a feature called Hybrid boot which doesn't shut down your computer 100%. You can disable it which will shut down your PC just like Windows 7. To do this:
1. Go to Control Pannel
2. Go to Power Options
3. Go to System Settings
3. Click on 'Require password when computer wakes' which if you have a password your user account if will ask you for a password.
4. Click on 'change options that you can't change' and uncheck 'fast startup'.
5. Save changes and then you're done!

Just installed it on my Packard Bell. Are Intel likely to release graphics drivers for the Intel G41 Chipset for Windows 8 Beta?

I ran CP for months using the x64 version. I just installed x64 Windows 8 Release Preveiw and have not had any problems. Only have 2GB of memory also.

Installed in 15 minutes.
Running smoothly,at least for now.
Explorer problem that was present in CP seems to be gone, but explorer can hang at times.
Drivers installed quick and work.(quite a few are in compatibility mode with windwows 7).
Games run fine, and it wins over windows 7 on my machine with 2-5 fps on high to very high detail 1366x768 resolutin.
Ram usage has definetly become more efficient and while I have 8GB of ram it certainly helps.(autocad,3dsmax)
so far so good,BUT I want new icons for everything(more metro-like and stylish).
why so serious?
