Windows 8 - move to new Computer Possible
« on: October 30, 2012, 11:55:13 PM »
I have not tried this, but have been told - Windows 8 is not very forgiving on transfer from OLD Computer to the NEW Computer when the old one burns out.
so my idea is this....
one individual claims he added a NEW faster HDD to the same computer then restored back to that NEW HDD and it was OK.
so in question... more than 1 change might trigger De- Activated and possible unability to ReActivate...
so if one deletes all the drivers from your current OS and simply reboot, Windows 8 simply looks at devices and reinstalls DEFAULT Drivers...(Fact)
it works because all drivers are in the memory cache....
so if You remove all the device drivers... everything works perfect -
so my idea is
1. with all the devices removed from System.... make a perfect restorable image....Acronis 2013 works fine with Windows 8 ...
2. turn off your #1 system
3. insert your Bootable DVD into DVD... the drivers are included with that Bootable CD. into computer #2
4. select the restorable image from the image made in #1. chose the proper HDD.
5. question is since there was not device drivers in the image ... will it see the new computer as only changed the HDD.
will it then simply look see the devices and install proper drivers ... and still remain Activated... and Genuine.

just an old timer thinking ... why did or did M$ change the ability for us to UPGRADE to a newer System... and keep your Genuine Activated OS...
In Windows 7 - I added memory,  changed HDDs added new faster Video Cards ... never lost my Genuine - Activated OS.
The only STUPID Question is the one you never asked.
