MWC 2013: i-Mate unveiling a Windows 8 powered 4.7” phone
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:06:12 PM »

You may have seen a Windows Phone 8 smartphone running mobile optimized version of Windows 8 but, now, i-Mate is planning to unveil a Windows 8 powered phone which would be running Windows 8 not Windows Phone 8. This mobile device running Windows 8 would have a 4.7-inch screen with 2GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

This mobile phone running Windows 8 would be one of the few mobile devices running Windows 8 natively. It would also include a ‘hub’ for connectivity which would allow it to be docked with the wired-phone with audio/video calling facility and a 23-inch touch screen would also be connectable with the hub.

i-Mate, a Windows mobile phone manufacturer from Dubai, UAE is planning to unveil a new Windows 8 powered  phone during the MWC (Mobile World Congress), the biggest ever mobile shows in Europe.

The phone by i-Mate won’t be powered by Windows Phone 8, the mobile version of Windows 8 but, it would be running the full version of Windows 8 just like the desktop PC’s. This awesome phone has a 4.7-inch screen with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and 4G LTE network support.

The amazing thing about that phone is its docking ‘hub’ which will convert it into a telephone when docked and a 23-inch touch screen display would also be connected to that phone and provide Windows 8 PC like experience. In addition to the hub, it will also feature a 10.1-inch tablet which will connect to it wirelessly.

This awesome phone powered by Windows 8 is also similar to the ITG xpPhone 2 which was also powered by Windows 8. i-Mate plans to unveil this phone during MWC later this week and it’s expected pricing is $750 for the phone only and the package of phone and hub will cost whooping $1600.

The question is whether this phone would be able to make an impact on market or it will go in dark just like the previously released ITG xpPhone 2?
