Windows 10 for Phones seems to be a much more robust Operating System than Windows Phone 8.1.
We continue to find out more and more by the day.
Now we have also found that these phones will support NFC features that will be good news for everyone wanting to use NFC enabled Windows Phones for “Tap to Pay”.
Windows 10 for Phones will provide native Host Card Emulation (HCE).
What is HCE? A good definition is the following: (HCE) is software architecture that provides exact virtual representation of various electronic identity cards using only software. Prior to the HCE architecture, NFC transactions were mainly carried out using secure elements, which were integrated into carrier-issued SIM cards. So to make this crystal clear, HCE is software that so securely simulates credit cards and bank accounts that you don’t need any accompanying hardware as well.
As the slide above reveals, Microsoft has aligned with VISA, MaterCard and AMEX already for this.
The following is a (Chinese) video showing some of the new proposed HCE NFC enhancements in Windows 10 for Phones.
