A bit too early this talk about these Lumia flagships, but apparently they are already in testing. Little else is known about them, other than the fact that they will launch next year.
Microsoft is gearing up to launch its first Windows 10 Mobile powered smartphones, the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550.
All three were unveiled at a company event last month, and are on track to hit the store shelves by the end of the year. But it seems that Redmond is already looking ahead.
Looking ahead to launch a few more smartphones in the very near future.
Near enough — considering the fact that these two devices are pegged to arrive in Q3 2016, which means anywhere from July to September. Which might make these devices somewhat old if Qualcomm announces a successor chipset to the Snapdragon 820 CPU.
In the first half of the year, that is.
Sources close to Microsoft claim that the company is already testing these devices, meaning there is a fair chance that we will hear more about them in the coming months.
The Snapdragon 820 chipset has been extensively detailed, and is said to feature a 64-bit Kyro processor build on a 14nm process. An Adreno 530 graphics processing unit resides alongside it, promising improvements of 40% or better than the current Adreno 430 GPU.
This chip is expected to power a whole array of new smartphones that will hit the market early next year, so hopefully Microsoft finds a way to get these new Lumia flagships to market in the second quarter of 2016.
Or, at most, early third.
