The news of the demise of the Windows 10 Mobile platform, then, is wildly exaggerated, so to say. Not many are giving Microsoft a chance in mobile, but the company is still aiming high.

Aiming high enough to ship millions of devices powered by its mobile OS to enterprises the world over.

We have known for some time now that the business environment is something that Redmond has amped up its efforts to target with Windows 10 — and this new job ad posted on the Microsoft Careers website simply reveals that.

The idea of bringing Windows 10 on as many PCS, tablets and smartphones as possible.

This is what it reads:

Quote
“Productivity & enterprise-grade Security are key differentiators of Windows Mobile OS. Are you passionate about leveraging these strengths and working with ecosystem Partners to build and ship millions of Windows Mobile OS devices with differentiating experiences to enterprises?”
Now while this does confirm that enterprise is now the key focus for the software titan, it does not say that Microsoft seems to want to bet more on this side of the mobile market.

At the expense of consumers.

Yes, the signs may be there, like the recently launched Lumia 650, which the software titan has aimed at business users. But the fact remains that Windows Phone currently has approximately 1% share in the enterprise sector, and this is something that needs a lot of work.

Microsoft no longer refers to its mobile OS as a standalone product these days, preferring to group Windows into a single item.

But one can say that 2016 will be the make or break year for Window 10 Mobile.

And define whether the platform will be something that is exclusively geared towards the business and enterprise sectors, or will consumers remain in the mix.
