270 Million Devices Now Running Windows 10
« on: March 31, 2016, 11:32:38 PM »
So pretty much the fastest adoption ever for, well, an operating system. Microsoft shared some new numbers regarding Windows 10, confirming how much the OS is now in use worldwide.

270 million active users, according to the company.

Which, although includes all manner of devices, is still a massive milestone.

Terry Myerson, the executive vice president of the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, confirmed this onstage at BUILD just a little while back, while also revealing the Anniversary Update that will be released to all these users later this year.

Before him, CEO Satya Nadella promised that new categories of Windows devices will be unveiled in the coming days, allowing developers the ability to create new types of applications.

He also shared some more statistics, including 6.6 million hours of Xbox One games that have been streamed to Windows 10 PCs up until now.

To go with the fact that there have been 5 billion visits to the Windows Store, the most ever.

However, the most notable statistics among all these is still the 270 million devices mark that Microsoft has confirmed, and while the company has not segregated the types of devices, the fact that the platform now powers all these machines is impressive.

PCs, smartphones, tablets, IoT devices, and of course, the Xbox One.

All in.
