I had the same problem with one of my favorite games... played AOK in Vista and suddenly in Win7 the full screen was cropped top and bottom.  the problem i found was due to Win7s failure to switch and play the game in required screen size. (most games have a default resolution).  I could manually change the resolution of windows to game default and it played like it was suppost to.
Many programs games included switch resolution to be displayed properly....
fix: manually switch resolution - remember you are using a very young beta OS..  ;)
The only STUPID Question is the one you never asked.

Hey Sulli,

I will be glad to help and try to help you as best as i can. If I understand what you said then you have your LCD TV connected to your computer through both HDMI and DVI?

If you are using both outputs to your LCD then that may be where the problem lies. Windows 7 being an infant beta may not have the ability to properly decide which output to use. If you are using both outputs go into screen properties where you change the resolution at. (right click on screen, select screen resolution) Do you see at the top of the window 1 screen or 2 screens? If you see 2 then try selecting the other screen and trying your game. If that don't work then try using only 1 port and test it to see if your game starts to work full screen.

Let me know and ill try and help you resolve it as quick as possible. My Aim and Skype ID's are listed here on the site and you can contact me there as well. I leave them on all the time even when im not at the computer so if i dont respond im not at my desk.

Do you have automatic updates on and set to install automatically? If so maybe windows update installed an update your not aware of and changed something.

When you reinstalled windows did you do it from a fresh install or over the existing installation? Doing it over an existing installation will not change the drivers currently installed and does not change the registry.

Also. what version of DirectX are you running? Reflexive games rely on DirectX to run, maybe the DirectX installed on your machine is corrupt. Have you tried to reinstall DirectX?

Click Windows Button in the task bar. in the search window type dxdiag. Select the file dxdiag.exe to get version info

Well i must say im a bit confused over this issue.

You have been running this with out issue till the other day.

Did a clean install on a formatted drive and the problem was still there.

With having a clean install then it shouldn't be an issue with corrupted files. Even if windows updated something.

Im sorry this is taking longer then you would want, but im just trying to cover all the basics and make sure neither you or i missed something. Ill think about this one while im at work tomorrow and try to think of some other steps you can take.

Few things in my mind but i cant figure it out how to solve

1. Screen Resulotion or Refresh rate (My Monitor Refresh rate shows 59 hertz and that i cant change.
2.I think before my monitor Resolution was highest 1920*1080 but now 1680*1050
But im using both Windows Recommended settings

Anyway im waiting for your advice and thanks again .

Sulli,

I have sat here and thought about this issue for the past couple of days and unfortunately the only conclusion i can come up with is as fallows.

When you reinstalled a clean version of Win7 and your games didn't work I'm sure that you probably installed all the available updates Windows had available. I would venture to say that in those updates there was an update for your video card that was recently released and that it isn't working to well. This would most likely explain why it worked for you one day and then all of a sudden stopped working. I would try a fresh install and I would not allow windows to do automatic updates, I would do them manually so it don't install drivers that don't work.

Sorry I couldn't come up with a better answer for you, but after all it is a beta and will be prone to problems.

Short Answer is no. Formatting a hard drive multiple times will have no effect on it. If your telling Windows to format the drive when you install it, your really not formatting the drive; All its doing is erasing the file that tells the computer where the files are.
