Gimme gimme gimme! This maybe a shot in the game of golf, but in the game of mobile three is the magic number. For the Surface Phone, at least, as Microsoft seems to have settled on its strategy.
Earlier in the day, we got our first look at how this upcoming smartphone might look.
Reportedly, that is.
And unofficial sources continue to provide more details on the Surface Phone ahead of its expected 2017 launch. This new report, the authenticity of which cannot be confirmed right now, claims that there will indeed be three different Surface Phone models.
All of these will be powered by the Snapdragon 830 processor, with Microsoft actually on track to pioneer this new CPU, which is expected to be here by the end of the year.
This new chip will be optimized for power efficiency and reduced battery usage. And yes, other companies like Samsung, LG and more will also install this processor on their devices — exclusive to the Surface Phone it will not be.
Neither do we seem to be getting an Intel processor inside, owing to the chip giant’s troubles in mobile.
Anyway, back to the Surface Phone, confirming the previous reports on the matter, this new one says that it will be offered in three different configurations, each with its own specifications and price point.
The entry level device will house 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, but microSD card support is likely to be offered.
The midrange Surface Phone model will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. While the most power packed of the three variants is expected to make use of 8GB of RAM and 500 GB of internal built-in storage, specifically designed for businesses and productivity focused consumers.
There may yet be even more exclusive feature for this top model, but precious little is known about them at the moment.
