Microsoft Updates Older Windows 10 Versions On Patch Tuesday
« on: December 14, 2016, 05:04:35 AM »
The second Tuesday of the month rarely fails to deliver. With Patch Tuesday in the air, Microsoft has released cumulative updates for almost all versions of Windows 10.

While build 14393.576 was made available for those running the Anniversary Update on PC and mobile, the software titan has also launched version 10240.17202 and 10586.713 for those still using the older versions of the operating system.

The former being the RTM release and the latter denoting the November Update.

This is what the company fixed in build 10240.17202, which is designed for the version of Windows 10 that shipped back in July 2015:

■ Addressed issue that causes the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) client to fail installation when a device is re-imaged using the SCCM task sequence.

■ Addressed an issue with an error that occurs when the home page of the browser is set to an extremely long URL.

■ Addressed an issue with search suggestions and suggested sites feature of the browser not working properly.

■ Addressed issue when changing the password for a local account with update KB3198585 installed, the computer will hang at “Changing Password”.

■ Addressed additional issues with Internet Explorer and updates to time zone information.

■ Security updates to Microsoft Uniscribe, Microsoft Graphics Component, the Windows OS, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Windows Hyper-V, Windows kernel, and the kernel-mode driver.

While build 10586.713 for the November Update (version 1511) also takes care of similar issues:

■ Improved reliability of Internet Explorer.

■ Addressed an issue with AppLocker failing to check for certificate revocation while verifying the binary signature.

■ Addressed an issue with an error that occurs when the home page of the browser is set to an extremely long URL.

■ Addressed an issue where the user sometimes incorrectly gets an error notification to fix the USB device connected to Windows 10 Mobile.

■ Addressed an issue with search suggestions and suggested sites feature of the browser not working properly.

■ Addressed additional issues with updates to time zone information and Internet Explorer.

■ Security updates to Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Uniscribe, Internet Explorer, the Windows OS, Microsoft Graphics Component, kernel-mode driver, Windows Hyper-V, and the Windows kernel.

Good stuff, all around!

That pretty much leaves the Windows 10 Mobile version 1511, which is build 10586, that did not receive any updates today, even though Redmond occasionally gives it a look every now and then.

Then again, only about 1.3% of Windows Phone users are on that particular version, so it kind of figures.
