Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Critical Update KB3211320
« on: January 27, 2017, 04:12:00 AM »
A security patch for Windows 10 in the form of KB3211320 is now shipping via Windows Update, aiming for the Microsoft Edge and fixing an issue in the new default web browser for the OS.

Microsoft published this new critical security update for users running the stable version of Windows 10.

This critical security update for Microsoft Edge specifically targets Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is version 1607. However, no KB page is available at the moment to let us know what exactly is being fixed with this patch.

If you are installing this, though, the update comes in at a size of 5.2 MB for the 32-bit version of Windows 10, and 11.4 MB for the 64-bit variant of the operating system. So, it’s pretty lightweight as far as updates go, and should take only a few seconds to download and install for most users.

This is what Microsoft says about this patch in Windows Update:

“Install this update to resolve issues in Windows. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information. After you install this item, you have to restart your computer.”

But as mentioned above, not much is known about this security update, even as everyone is recommended to install it as soon as possible anyway due to its critical nature.

Luckily, it does not require a system reboot, but installation will close and restart Microsoft Edge.

Do install it as soon as you can if you are using the web browser.
