At the recent Citrix Synergy event held in Orlando, Fla, Citrix announced that it’s now ready to roll Google Chrome out to Windows 10 S users.

A more stable computing experience

Windows 10 S is expected to offer a more stable and safer computing experience to Windows users at the expense of having access to popular and powerful apps such as Google’s Chrome browser. Citrix revealed that the company has a new Citrix Receiver application targeted at Windows which should open the gateway for the Win 32 apps to run on Windows 10 S.

Using specific Win32 apps

The Windows Store app can enable organizations running Windows 10 S to use particular Win32 applications or environments that are not likely to find their way to the Windows Store. This is the case of Google’s Chrome browser.

The Citrix Receiver

Its official description states:

Citrix Receiver gives access to Windows and Linux virtual applications and desktops, anywhere, from any device. If your organization uses Citrix XenApp or XenDesktop, then install the Citrix Receiver for UWP on your device to get access to the remote Windows and Linux applications and desktops. Once installed you need to configure Citrix Receiver to connect to your company’s Citrix servers. If you know the URL, then you can enter it yourself. Otherwise, contact your IT department to get started.

The Citrix Receiver is able to connect to XenApp and Xen Desktop where users can leverage TLS 1.2 or lower. There is also an option in which you can use SecureICA encryption for the connection if you are running an older version of XenApp.

Since it is an UWP app, this service would also work on UWP-only devices such as HoloLens, Windows Phone, and Surface Hub and offer support for Continuum for Phones. It features support touch, pinch, drag and drop, and zoom as well.

Citrix Receiver for Windows can be purchased from the Windows Store.
