Update:
Microsoft shipped Windows 7 Build 7061 to Close Partners and a group of selected testers.
The Latest Build Contains string ie:8.00.6001.18702 (longhorn_ie8_rtm (wmbla) .090308-0339)

A few weeks left before Windows 7 RC is to be released, the newest Build is already leaked to p2p.
The build string is 7057.0.x86fre.winmain.090305-2000 and it was compiled on March 5.
The 32bit build has leaked to several Torrent sites today.
The 64bit version not yet, more on this to follow..
Whats new in this build:
>New white WMP12 now playing mode list panel with some weird fade from black effects.

Is there a possibilitie to upgrade from build 7048 ? (just like i did from 7000 to 7048)

Expire date also looks nice........no worrys for almost a year!!

It would be more interesting if any hard and software was better recognized. It sounds like Micro$oft is still not learning: put some nice pictures here and there is not going to make a stable and good OS.
I put W7 on a separate HD for testing, but many things still don't work, like drivers, especially Bluetooth is a nightmare! I tried two different USB sticks and both are unable to work with Nokia PC Suite.

Wat nobody comments on, is the fact that the new version seems to have been extended until March 2010 ? Can anybody verify?

Anyway, I work with XP daily, but that's far from perfect also

Thanks Riso, Gonna try the 32 bit 7052. As my c2d E6300 simply does better on 32 bit for some reason.
Windows 7 is the best OS ever and keeps getting better.

i've jsut hit a massive problem in my first shot of this build, the problem is, its a new feature that i hadnt tried so i dont know if its specific to this build.

i went into folder options from control panel to show files as you do and i happened to spot "launch folder windows in a seperate process" which i thought might be a good idea.
totally wasn't.
i now cannot open folder windows at all. when i select any folder or file it does nothing and after about 15 sec delay get this error...
cant get back to folder options to correct it either. major bummer.

Upgrade from 7048...........1 1/2 hour. Now online again and evereything looks good. No problems whatsoever!!

Thnx for the good work. I activated with patch from Orbitt30 and it says activated until 2-3-2010.......

Edit 1 : He's back !!! I'm using Ultramon (2 displays 1 monitor and 1 tv) when i disable the 2nd display the recycle bin returns , when i enable both displays he moves too the tv!!
Strange , will need some adjustment. Nice playing for the weekend.

Anyone having any problems with Steam in build 5057?

Steam keeps crashing on me when I try and install games or update it or run games or even try and open it

Also, how do I get to the About Windows window that shows the expiry date? Would like to know how to find it. Thanks =)

just a bit more on how to remove Desktop.ini "bug"

Fix Windows 7 Build 7057 Notepad Auto Open Desktop.ini on Startup Bug

1.Open Windows Explorer, then click on Organize -> Folder and Search Options.
2.Go to View tab.
3.Under “Hidden files and folders” tree, select Show hidden files, folders and drives.
4.Uncheck Hide protected operating system files in order to be able to view the hidden desktop.ini file.
5.Click OK when done.
6.Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder, or alternatively, just type shell:common startup in Start Search and hit Enter.
7.Delete desktop.ini file inside the folder.
8.Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder, or alternatively, just type shell:startup in Start Search and hit Enter.
9.Delete desktop.ini file inside the folder.
10.The bug has been fixed, and no Notepad window with desktop.ini will appear on reboot or startup anymore.
