With the first lot of Windows Mobile 6.5 laden phones already sold, rumor mills are abound with the news of the Microsoft's plans to announce its latest Office Suite for mobile devices, Office Mobile 2010 for Windows Mobile 6.5.
As mentioned above, the news of the arrival of Office Mobile 2010 is of course a rumor as of now. With the software expected to come with support for Windows Mobile 6.5, it is likely that this latest version might just skip support for older OS'es. The software will also be unsupported on the upcoming Windows Mobile 7, making it a very limited platform with support for just one version of the OS.
Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform has been under threat for quite sometime now - thanks to a relentless assault by newer and flashier mobile OS'es like Android and the iPhone OS. The once popular OS has seen stagnant growth, along with a steadily eroding market share over the past few years. Microsoft expects to stall the downward spiral with Windows Mobile 7, the latest iteration of the OS that will see the light of the day by mid 2010.
