A German website, WinFuture.de, who also leaked the Windows 7 Build 7032 screenshots and information approximately one week ago, has now released information regarding the Release Candidate of Windows 7. According to their report, Microsoft started the “Escrow” phase of Windows 7 deployment on the 16th of February. Since the 16th, development has been paused to allow time for bug and problem finding.
According to the report, the Release Candidate version of Windows 7 will be released on the 27th of February. As always, MSDN and Technet users will receive some special treatment. But, it should also be available on the Microsoft Connect website.
The Release Candidate will only be open privately to MSDN, Technet, and Connect users until mid-April when the public Release Candidate will be made available. The build released on the 27th will possibly be build 7048. That build, also known as 7048.winmain_win7rc1.090211-1625, was the first build string with the “win7rc1” branch to show up on the internet. Update: The sources that leaked the information regarding 7048 have edited their claim saying that they had false information and the build was actually 7041 and not on the win7rc1 branch.
