When Lee Mathews over at Download Squad asked if Microsoft is leaking Windows 7 he came to the conclusion that they probably turn a blind eye to avoid server strain once the release candidate comes out. This is not very likely in our opinion as Microsoft has shown that they are capable of distributing Windows 7 Beta after some initial distribution problems without further problems to millions of users.
The theory that they might turn a blind eye however might still be valid but for different reasons than Lee suspected. Every leak of Windows 7 is creating buzz on the Internet. Blogs and technology websites are reporting about the leak and in consecutive posts about the changes that they discovered in the new builds. This has a huge impact on the public perception of the new operating system as they tend to read frequently about the progress in development and the features that have been added to those builds.
The latest Windows 7 leak with the build string 7068 was build on March 21 and leaked less than a week after its build date. Sure, Microsoft is a huge company and builds tend to get distributed internally and externally to various groups but the lack of response to those leaks is stunning.
