Yes, it's that time again! After many months of development and
careful testing, we are proud to announce the release of Slackware
version 13.1!
A few weeks after the release of the beta version,
Patrick Volkerding released the brand new stable version of Slackware 13.1.
Slackware Linux is the oldest surviving distribution and although the Linux landscape has been dominated the last few years by Ubuntu, Slackware still has a vast and faithful group of followers. Why? Slackware is,
out of the box, fast, secure and rock stable. An excellent choise for a server, but for a desktop it's also perfect.
Slackware is not the easiest distro, but certainly -one of- the best. Are you interested in an OS that is fully adaptable to your demands, want full control?
Then Slackware might just be something for you.
Slackware 13.1 ships with the latest KDE (4..4.3), Xfce (4.6.1), the 2.6.33.4 Linux kernel, HAL (plug 'n play), Firefox 3.6.3, Thunderbird 3.0.4 en Seamonkey 2.0.4.
