iPhone owners complain about iOS4 upgrade
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:08:14 AM »
Apple’s forums have been buzzing with negative feedback left by disgruntled iPhone owners who have suffered problems after upgrading to the new iOS4 operating system.

Common complaints on the forum include stalled updates, data loss and a severe reduction in battery life on certain handsets.

“What a nightmare upgrade I've had with the new OS,” wrote one poster, called HAWK-EYE. “First the backup appeared to be stalled, then Google stopped working with the new OS.

“Now, to top it off, the battery life is terrible. Fully charged after the upgrade, it has been switched on for five hours and I've got less than 20% left,” the post continued. “Normally it takes over 12 hours for me to get to that stage!”

His problems were echoed by multiple other comments. Responses on the forums suggested the battery life problems could be resolved by changing connectivity settings to make sure wireless services were not on when not in use or – wait for it – rebooting.

Other users fared even worse, with reported loss of data, particularly contacts and photos.

“After upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS4, all my photos I took on the phone are gone! The Roll is empty,” wrote Thomas Haecki, one of many facing similar issues, while others reported their photos had become "blurry" after the upgrade.
