Samsung Ships 1 Million Galaxy S Smartphones in the U.S.
« on: August 30, 2010, 05:12:40 PM »
It seems that Samsung’s extensive marketing campaign for their Android-based smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S, is paying off: the company announced it has shipped one million of them in the U.S. market since the device was launched on August 15.

The Galaxy S is a powerful smartphone with a 1 GHz processor, 512MB of memory and a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen; in our detailed review, Christina Warren called it one of the best Android-based devices on the market.

Positive reviews, together with the marketing push (which included a social media campaign as well as print, online, cinema and TV ads on major networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN and MTV), have made Samsung Galaxy S a success, but Samsung claims that another key element played an important part: multiple carriers. “Bringing Galaxy S devices to multiple carriers has given Samsung Mobile the opportunity to reach millions of consumers,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S is currently available with AT&T and T-Mobile, and is slated to come to Spring on August 31, as well as Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular and Cellular South later this fall.
