The highly popular Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU that’s used in most smartphones today will be upgraded to the upcoming 1.5GHz dual-core chip, which will be the successor to the current 1.0GHz single-core chip. Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon processor today, stating it’ll be available early 2011.
Chances are if you have a recent smartphone manufactured by Dell, HTC, LG, Sony and a few others, you’re probably using a Snapdragon processor right now. The boost of speed should be a welcome upgrade to smartphone manufacturers, as they’re always looking to increase responsiveness and improve portable gaming on their devices.
