We already posted the news of jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G on iOS 4.1 few days ago, now its possible to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3GS. The famous iPhone hacker iH8sn0w has released the tool Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 (also known as PwnageTool for Windows), which is capable of jailbreaking iPhone 3GS ( New bootrom) running iOS 4.1. You can unlock your iPhone 3GS / iPhone 3G using ultrasn0w after jailbreaking it.

Sn0wbreeze 2.0 is used for creating custom firmwares of iOS on Windows. It preserves your baseband version and does not upgrade it so you can unlock it using ultrasn0w.

If you want to try out this jailbreak, we have a guide here which can help you out jailbreaking your iPhone 3GS / iPhone 3G. But remember follow this guide on your own, we will not be responsible for any loss if happened to your device.

Important Note:

This tool will not jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G. It only supports the following compatible devices:

iPod Touch 1G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.

iPod Touch 2G (MB) : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.

iPod Touch 2G (MC) : Must be on iOS 3.1.2, no jailbreak needed.

iPod Touch 3G : Must be jailbroken on iOS 3.1.2

iPod Touch 4 : Will not work, wait for GreenPois0n jailbreak

iPhone 2G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.

iPhone 3G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.

iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS versio. (If old bootrom on Spirit or JailbreakMe use Spirit2Pwn from http://repo.woowiz.net Cydia repo)

iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) : Must be jailbroken on iOS 3.1.2

iPhone 4 : Will not work, wait for GreenPois0n jailbreak

iPad : Will not work, wait for GreenPois0n jailbreak

Tools Needed:

PC with Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32 or 64bit)

Guide:

If you are still not sure what you’re doing, you can stop here. Beware we will not be responsible for any loss if happened to your device by following this guide.

Step 1: Install the latest version of iTunes.

Step 2: Now run iTunes and let it sync your iPhone / iPod, so your important data is stored/ backup in your PC.

Step 3: Now run Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 ( If you’re using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you will have to run Sn0wbreeze by right clicking on it and than select “Run as Administrator“).


Step 4: After Sn0wbreeze is launched, select “Expert Mode” , then continue by clicking on the blue arrow


Step 5: Now “Browse” and select the .ipsw file (iOS firmware which you downloaded for you iPhone / iPod). Sn0wbreeze will verify your iOS file and than display the following screen. ( see image below).



Step 6: If you have an iPhone 3G (new bootroom) or iPod touch 3G, hit on “General” then check “Use iBooty Method (3.1.2 Installation Required!)” and if you are on some unofficial carrier which iPhone doesn’t support, you also need to check “Activate The iPhone”.



Step 7: Now its time to create the custom firmware. Select “Build IPSW” and then save the custom firmware files on your desktop.



Step 8: After successfully saving the Custom firmware file, now you need to restore your iPhone using the custom firmware. Select your iPhone / iPod from under “Devices” in iTunes left sidebar. Now press and hold “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button. You will see a file browser, select the Custom Firmware file which you just created and hit “Open“.

Step 9: Now wait, iTunes will do the rest of the work for you. You will see a progress bar on your iPhone / iPod screen. After the processing is completed, iPhone / iPod will restart and you will have a jailbroken iOS 4.1.

After you are finish with Jailbreaking, you can unlock your iPhone using ultrasn0w and backup your files which you stored in step 2.
