iPhone 5 launch in August

When will Apple release the iPhone 5? That’s the question every tech journalist and blogger is currently asking, as well as anyone whose current phone contract is coming to an end. Is it worth renewing with a new iPhone 4, waiting for an iPhone 4S, or is the iPhone 5 just around the corner?

According to Boy Genius Report, they have confirmed independently that Apple is going to surprise everyone and launch the iPhone 5 in August. That’s ahead of the September 7 launch being banded about a couple of days ago and would certainly be out of the ordinary for Apple.

BGR is relying on a reliable source for their information, meaning they’ve delivered before and got it right. This source is also backing up previous claims that the iPhone 5 will have a radical new design that features a tapered back as depicted back in April by TiMN:

If BGR’s information turns out to be true then the iPhone 4S was just a smokescreen to get developers the faster internals of the iPhone 5 without giving away the design update. But until we hear anything directly from Apple this is all just rumor and speculation.

There is nothing to suggest that a major makeover is coming.  Two years in a row?  That would be so unlike Apple.

The people who's contracts are up this time around are stuck in a stale cycle.  They always get the crap phones and this is all just wishful thinking.

The best GUESS right now is the iPhone 4s will get released soon then we have a whole another year to wait for the iPhone 5.
