IE10 to come with a spell checker for Windows 7 and 8
« on: November 09, 2011, 08:20:58 PM »
Missing from IE9, a spell checker will be present in IE10, including the Windows 7 version.

This is one thing that many users criticised for being missing from Internet Explorer 9 – a spell checker. This fault will be corrected in IE10 thanks to a multi-language auto correction checker.

This is hardly surprising as this checker was already announced with the preliminary version of Windows 8. It will be offered for all applications, including IE10. Microsoft has today stated that such a checker will be available as a function in IE10 to all supported versions of Windows, which includes Windows 7.

Moving to IE10 will be an essential piece of Windows 8 (will it be possible to uninstall?) which will integrate a version of Metro and Desktop while also handling plugins. This engine will also be available to Windows 7, but not Windows Vista.

In Windows 8 (preliminary version), all dictionaries for languages supported by the spell checker are pre-installed with different variations to take into account local languages (this can be managed in the Windows 8 control panel). Without providing more details at the moment, Microsoft indicates that in Window s7, the IE10 spell checker will be included in the browser itself.
