We are all waiting to download the Windows Consumer Preview. I remember the time when I downloaded the Windows 7 Beta. I had to download it thrice as the first two downloads were corrupted. Then many of us downloaded it from unofficial torrents and then checked it with HashCalc. This happens to people from places like India where the broadband download speeds are very slow to say the least. It takes hours to download it.

I only hope Microsoft would make the download available in Torrent also. Or would they come out with yet another Download Manager?

Definatley! When Microsoft release the Consumer Preview tomrrow, it will also be quickly spread to torrent servers and FTP sites such as Beta Archive.

Microsoft has a Download Manager and using the proper channels for your download is always the safest way to get an operating system. Microsoft usually has download links at Connect or MSDN, but in the past has used Digital Rivers also...and their servers are usually faster than a torrent download.

The question is not one of speed. When we download with a Bit-torrent client it verifies the integrity of the file. This is lacking in Download managers. So after downloading more than 4 GB, you are shocked to see that the file has been corrupted. This happens when you download in stages using the resume function.

That is the reason for my preferring to download a file through a Bit-torrent client.

DOwnloaded the consumer test version from the online Link today. was a relatively fast load, probe installed with no problems and seems to be stable at this time. A short time will tell.
All current defaults seem to be fine.

TPB is not the only Torrent site. Unfortunately many people associate Bit torrent with TPB. This is not correct. Torrents are available form many sites. In fact even the torrents from TPB are mostly from another major site.

Anyone who is downloading through a Torrent client should know the risks associated with it. If you are not familiar with the risks, do not download through Torrents.

Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware.
