Windows 8 Tip: Expand the ribbon UI in explorer
« on: July 03, 2012, 04:32:43 AM »
Microsoft introduced Ribbon UI in windows explorer in Windows 8.

Well, the ribbon was first introduced in Office 2007 despite all the end user hatred of it. Then, Microsoft decided to implent it on it's other products too.

Windows explorer's default view

Ribbon UI is supposed to make your work easier. It requires very few clicks for doing any work. That's why it succeeded so much in Office 2007.

By default, ribbon UI comes minimized in the explorer. Microsoft had explained in a B8 post, why they decided to do so.

If you love the ribbon UI and are wondering how to enable it, then you are at the right place.

In this post I will provide a short and quick tutorial for expanding the ribbon view in Windows 8 explorer. So, let's get started.

Click the arrow to expand ribbon

First of all, switch to the desktop and launch Windows explorer. Then look just below the close button.

There will be a downward arrow symbol. All you need to do is to click on that downward arrow button and ribbon UI will be expanded.
