The News, Weather, Finance, Travel, Sports, Food & Drink and Health & Fitness apps of Windows 8.1 shows Bing based ads which are optimized for your interesting using the information from your Microsoft account. This means, all your personal information is also shared with Microsoft – which ofcourse is kept private. But, the interest based ads mean that the ads being displayed showed would be related to the content you search or view while logged into your Microsoft account.

Although, the ads are very useful as they are tailored for your needs and interests but, you can always disable those ads easily. Although, Microsoft asks for your permission to use your Microsoft account for interest based ads but, if you still want to disable the ads based on your interest, then you are at the right place.

Just follow the instructions below to disable interest based ads from Bing apps of Windows 8.1.

Instructions:

• First of all, open the app in which you don’t want the interest based ads to be showed. I opened the Finance app but, you can follow the steps below for all apps.

Note: You will have to perform the below steps for all apps individually in which you don’t want the interest based ads to be showed.

• When the app is open, press ‘Windows key + I’ or swipe from right and select ‘Settings’.

• Your Settings Charm will open. Here select ‘Microsoft Advertising’.

Tip: If you don’t see the ‘Microsoft Advertising’ option in Settings Charm then, the ads being showed aren’t tailored for you based on your interests.

• Once the Microsoft Advertising menu is open, you would ‘Advertising settings’. Move the slider switch under the ‘Advertising settings’ to the left side where it will turn to ‘No’.

• Once turned off, you won’t be showed ads based on your interest and personal information.

• That’s all! You can follow the steps for all the Bing based pre-installed apps of Windows 8.1.
