Options, options. As long as the final choice is with users, everything is alright. Take this newest Windows 9 Start Menu rumor that is doing the rounds, as an example.
There is a chance that this important feature of the upcoming operating system will come with a few additional options. Along with working as it traditionally does, the returning Start Menu in Windows 9 is to include a full screen view option too.
This possible option would make it take up the whole screen — similar to the Start Screen.
The mockups Microsoft presented in April at the BUILD developer conference this year showed a Start Menu design that incorporated both traditional (Windows 7) and modern (Live Tiles) features. And it looked really appealing.
Hard to judge how a full screen Windows 9 Start Menu might look without first seeing it in action. And though the concept may sound a bit odd to some, it is a pretty good idea for users that live and breathe the Metro interface.
All said and done the Start Menu is a key feature of the next version of Windows, and one can expect Microsoft to nail it this time. Or at the very least, offer different options for users to set features like this according to their needs.
