Intel shows off astonishing laptop with second e-ink display
« on: September 12, 2014, 04:31:15 AM »
Some believe desktop and laptop computers are falling under the boom in smartphones and tablets. This can be the case in certain ways, but it’s definitely not true the laptop market has no innovation to offer. We are at IDF 2014 and Intel is showing us how their processors can bring a new twist to otherwise “cookie cutter” devices.

One of the most interesting products we saw at the show floor is a concept laptop with more than one display. One of them would be your normal, backlit screen with stunning colors, while the other would be a simpler e-ink display (located right behind the screen).

Because of the e-ink display’s placement, this e-ink screen is meant to be more about personalizing your experience and expressing yourself. You can display pictures or messages of whatever you prefer, and because e-ink uses so little energy your battery life won’t be affected.

There’s is more than looks to this concept, as it’s obvious some productivity features can be implemented here. The laptop has a translator tool that can translate and display text to those in front of you. Furthermore, it’s possible to use it as an e-reader and follow your feeds.

We loved the demo we got here at IDF 2014. New form factors and concepts will take traditional computing to the next level, and we can’t wait to see computers like this one taking over the market.
