Speed Improvements High On The Agenda For Windows 10
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:21:46 PM »
Nice to see some progress in this regards. Up until now the Windows 10 story has mostly been about user interface enhancements, app development, and the balance between the desktop and Modern UI.

But speed improvements should always remain in focus.

Luckily, Microsoft is focusing on making their new operating system faster than the predecessors. And there is now proof that the work the company is doing in terms of speeds and performance is paying off. Even if just by a little.

Redmond has improved specific features of Windows 10 to make it faster.

And the company announced some of these improvements publishing this chart on Twitter, showing how the Feedback app is now faster.

An average search speed increase of 95.7% is welcome and much needed.

Gabriel Aul talked about how Microsoft reacts to feedback it receives from users. A number of testers complained that the Feedback app included in the preview versions of Windows 10 was too cumbersome and slow, and these speed improvements should now make usage more pleasant.

Other speed improvements are also on their way, the software titan assures.

In fact, the UserVoice page for Windows 10 is filled with users asking the company to make certain features of the operating system faster — from general usage to the shutdown process.

Many of them actually have hundreds of votes, so chances of seeing them implemented are high.
