A new preview version of the server flavor of Windows is here, in the form of Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 3 that has just been released by Microsoft.
This update arrives some three months after the release of the preview version.
ISO files of this build leaked online last week, and screenshots of build 10514 surfaced soon after. But Microsoft has done the deed officially today, ousting the official version of what is, quite certainly, a long awaited release.
Redmond also put up a detailed little post ahead of release, which detailed the new features of Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 3, and this version does come with a range of fresh options.
Including Windows Server Containers that are an isolated, resource controlled and portable operating environment. This new version also comes with Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS).
These two technologies improve authentication techniques, helping organizations to provide improved identity management experiences on devices.
Hyper-V or Scale-out File Server failover cluster also sees a few changes, and it can now easily be upgraded without any downtime.
Microsoft has also improved the Windows Server Antimalware, and support for OpenGL and OpenCL applications MultiPoint Services has been integrated into Remote Desktop Services for Windows Server Technical Preview.
A range of other improvements to File and Storage Services, Web Application Proxy, Windows PowerShell 5.0 and Networking are also included.
You can download and deploy this version of the preview, but as is the case with all prerelease software, Microsoft advises users to only install this in a test environment.
