Rise of the Tomb Raider Getting DirectX 12 Support
« on: February 09, 2016, 05:38:00 PM »
Can you feel the throbbing power of your DirectX 12 graphics card?

Doesn’t it feel rather wasted with practically no games to play that use it?

The wait is nearly over. A recent patch for Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, a game that you can download from the Windows Store, has added files for Directx 12.

While the feature isn’t enabled yet, it looks like it shouldn’t be long before the PC version of the game, when played on a Windows 10 system, will be even more beautiful.

The developers have even added a button to enable the feature in the game’s launcher, but it doesn’t yet function.

Still, they wouldn’t do that just to cause a fuss among gamers, so expect the DX12 tap to be switched on soon.

DirectX 12 Ready for Launch

Of course, both Nvidia and AMD will probably have a few driver tweaks to finalize before the actual DX12 version goes live.

However, when it does, expect plenty of comparisons between the game on older Windows systems and the DirectX 12 powered Windows 10.

With improved detail, lighting and graphical finesse, that should see a host of OS upgrades and new PC orders as gamers finally take the plunge into the future.

The PC version, led by Nixxes Software, offers stunning visual improvements to Lara Croft’s continuing adventures. They include 4K resolution for monster gaming rigs, advanced graphics, and new Pure Hair technology on Nvidia GPUs.

The developers list other improvements as including:

  • A very high-end ambient occlusion technique.

  • HBAO+ that reduces artifacts and produces richer and more detailed ambient lighting.

  • Objects and buildings are significantly enhanced at farther distances thanks to the increased geometry processing power on PC.

  • Beautiful yet hostile environments come alive with new weather effects and dynamic village that reacts to Lara’s movements.

Grab the game from the Windows Store.
