As in to say, in just a few hours. Microsoft is expected to release a new version of its mobile OS today, and Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.164 looks like a very good candidate.
The software titan could push the red button any time now.
According to reports, the company is now applying final touches to this version and Windows Insiders can expect to receive this new version later today — and just was the case with build 10586.122, this version could be made available for those in the Slow ring and Release Preview rings as well.
And as is usually the case with releases like these, this one will mostly be focused on bug fixes and improvements to the overall performance of the operating system.
Best not expect any major new features or changes after installing this version.
Redmond is currently working toward the goal of rolling out the Windows 10 upgrade for Windows Phone users, and build .164 is simply another milestone in making the mobile OS ready for general release, set for later this month.
Word is that Microsoft is using this build to test the upgrade from Windows Phone to Windows 10 Mobile, in order to make sure that the transition for Lumia owners is as smooth as possible.
Then again, today is, of course, Patch Tuesday as well, so there’s that bit.
Expect some fireworks today!
