Windows 10 Surpasses Windows 7 In North America
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:54:16 AM »
Time for a milestone! There are signs that Windows 10 has overtaken Windows 7 usage in two important regions, the North America and Oceanica.

To no one’s surprise.

The new OS surpassed the world’s most popular operating system in December 2016.

According to information provided by StatCounter, the third-party market share research firm.

And while Microsoft has been rather silent about the number of users on the operating system after announcing that it had crossed the 400 million users mark back in September 2016, the fact that the free upgrade path from Windows 7 has been discontinued has had an effect.

The slowdown was expected.

In fact, Redmond also made official that it did not except the platform to cross the 1 billion users mark that it expected within the timeframe it had set, with the goal being missed due to the declining phone business.

However, as the charts below illustrate, Windows 10 now reigns supreme in North America, and also in the Oceanica region.

In North America, Windows 10 now has 31.33% to its name, against the 31.27% of Windows 7, while in Oceanica, the new OS is well ahead at 36.39% against its competitor that sits at 25.67%. Keep in mind that these statistics may not be as accurate as official numbers.

But they do show that Windows 10 has crossed an important milestone.

And its usage is steadily rising to new heights now.
