What you see is what you get! In other words, don’t expect any flashy new additions in terms of features in the Creators Update, as both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile are now done here.
Now, the focus has shifted to bug fixes and performance improvements.
There were signs that this was about to happen, and build 15031 marked this important milestone for this next big update to the operating system. Redmond rolled out both these builds on PCs and mobile devices enrolled in the Windows Insider Program.
And both have made the switch to the rs2_release branch.
This push to the release branch means that Microsoft is no longer working on developing new features for the operating system, simply because it does not have time to develop, improve and fix any ensuing bugs and issues.
In fact, Windows 10 Mobile build 15031 was a bit of a disappointment in this regard, as it only brought a single new feature — and that too, an icon.
But all that is to be expected at this late a stage.
With both versions of the operating system now feature complete, any remaining or planned options will only see daylight in the Redstone 3 update that should go live in the fall of 2017.
For now, the complete focus shifts to the Creators Update and its planned April launch.
Plenty of bugs to be fixed, lots of polish remains, but at least there are no new features in development that could result in thing going wrong.
Full steam ahead!
