After Microsoft announced yesterday that Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 will be sent to testers this week, more exciting news comes from the Office 2010 section. Microsoft has announced that an Office 2010 public beta will be available sometime in November. Office 2010 has be noted as a “hybridization” of applications. It’s available on your PC, in a web browser *Office Web Apps”, and in Windows Mobile as Office Mobile. Currently, only the Office Web Apps are available; but to a select group. According to the Wzor website, Office 2010 build 14.0.4514.1009 will be the build Microsoft will officially release as Beta 2 to attendees of the Tech-Ed Conference in Berlin, November 6, 2009. Among things, this build features a new installation procedure, which requires you to enter a unique installation product key. Bad news for pirates

I like Office 2010 beta 2. It's a nice build and I think that beta 3 may be the public build.

Installing right now, let's see if it works...

Installed without flaws - even asked to update the Outlook Connector at start... Activation failed (didn't expect else), so how long it works without nag-screens, I'll see.

I was waiting for a workaround for the activation problem with the Mondo version - but no answers at all. So I'll go with this version for the time beeing, and wait for the public Beta next month.

Just noticed: Can't get access to the Options menu in the File section... Missing activation? Or just disabled in the Beta? In the Mondo-version, I was able to access the Options, but there where limited possibilities in there (changing colourscheme).

Don't bother to download, doesn't work without activation!

So? No use, uninstalling it again, can't send mails without activating. Lots of bandwidth and time wasted. The trick with OPPSRUN, mentioned in the Mondo-thread doesn't work either, because the file simply isn't there, just as I complained in that thread. And no one bothered to answer or help, thanks for that.

So maybe we all should take a breath and not get to excited about a new release, when it is useless, test it, then recommend to DL it for us others.
