Kindle for Mac now finally available
« on: March 18, 2010, 02:54:57 PM »
With not so much as a hint of fanfare (and a very loose definition of "coming soon"), Amazon has quietly unleashed its Kindle app for Mac. The 22MB file is for Intel-based machines only, OS X 10.5 and above. Nothing too fancy, it does exactly what you'd expect in terms of functionality... and not much else.

'Just' four months after arriving for Windows-based PCs, Amazon's Kindle application has now become available for Apple Macs too. The free application enables people to purchase ebooks from the Kindle Store (which currently has 450,000 titles), access their library of previously-bought books, read the books, view notes and highlights marked on Kindle, Kindle DX, and Kindle for iPhone, and even add and automatically synchronize bookmarks. Extras like full text search and the ability to create and edit notes and highlights are in plan too and they'll be coming with a later release.

"Kindle for Mac is the perfect companion application for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX," said Jay Marine, director, Amazon Kindle. "For those customers around the world who don't yet have a Kindle, Kindle for Mac is a great way to instantly access and read the most popular new releases as well as their old favorites."
What else is there to say? Time's a-wastin', hit up the source link to download.
