Google just got a lot smarter about the way it handles searches for apps on Android and iPhone. Now, when you enter a keyword that suggests you're looking for an app, you'll get results from the iPhone App Store or the Android Market, depending on the device you're searching for. This works with app names and keywords like "download" and "app."

This is great for those times when you don't know the name of a particular app. Instead of Googling to find the app name and then opening up an app store and putting the name in, you get a link directly to the app page. Google says it will only show you app results when "relevant, well-rated" apps are found. The app results include rating and price, so you've at least got some basic app info before you click through. This isn't a revolutionary new feature by any means, but it's a subtle and useful improvement to Google's mobile search offering.
